Field trip to Suncheon Garden Expo 2013

The student dormitory administration offers activities for international and Korean students, living in the dormitory. One of these activities was a field trip to Suncheon Garden Expo 2013 (2013순천만국제정원박람회), Suncheon Bay (순천만) and Naganeupseon (낙안읍성) in May.

Suncheon lies near the south coast of Korea. Suncheon Bay is a coastal wetland, which is the perfect home for many plants and animals. It has become a popular tourist place in the last few years, and the residents do their best to keep the natural scenes undamaged, but still accessible for tourists. The scene is really beautiful and I can only recommend you visit it. Between the reed live crabs that can easily be seen from the bridges.

The Suncheon Garden Expo is held from April 20 to October 20 this year. Its theme is "Garden of the Earth". Therefore, you can find many different gardens on the Expo area, such as the German Garden, a Bonsai Garden, the Korean Garden, a rose garden, etc., etc...

You can easily spend a day on the Expo area. Unfortunately, we only had three hours, before we moved on to Suncheon Bay. The Expo is really beautiful. The people, who worked on this project, put a lot of effort in it. Not only can you see delicate flowers, you also get to enjoy refined art pieces.

That reminds me of one creepy incident. While wandering around in the Expo area I saw a man, who filmed me with his mobile phone. I was really shocked in this moment and hid behind my friend... I am used to the fact that people stare at me, but why did he film me??? (/_\)

Last but not least, we visited Naganeupseon Folk Village in Suncheon. The wall that once protected the village is still intact and you can have a nice walk on it, while you enjoy the breathtaking view. The houses in the village are made of mud and stone and have straw roofs. People are still living there and you can even find places that offer rooms for tourists. It was a bit strange to see laundry in front of the old houses ^^;

For lunch we went to a famous seafood restaurant. Unfortunately, seafood is not my first choice, when it comes to eating. Most of the dishes were with clamps - my arch-enemy  ヘ(>_<ヘ)
So I didn't eat up eating a lot. I also didn't drink enough throughout the day. By the time we had dinner I was feeling nauseous and dizzy. The food didn't help. Luckily, my friend hat medicine with her, so I made back home safely.

We paid 15,000KRW (~10€) for the whole trip. This included entrance fees, bus, two meals (lunch and dinner) and insurance. So cheap (✿ ♥‿♥). I hope you have a nice time looking at the photos!!!
