Daejeon sights #1: Yuseong Foot Spa

The Yuseong Foot Bath is one place, that you might not want to miss in Daejeon.
The Foot Spa area has three foot-bathing facilities. When I was there only two of them were filled with water.

Here is a small guide on how to use the Foot Spa:
  1. Search for a free space you want to sit at and leave your bag and other stuff there. Consider, that the water is at the highest temperature on the start of the small pool, and gradually gets cooler to the end.
  2. Put off your shoes and socks and willow your trousers at the washing facility at the end of the pool. The water reached to my knees, so be careful that your clothes won't get wet.
  3. Wash your feet at the washing facility.
  4. Get into the water and walk to the place you selected earlier.
  5. Sit down and enjoy.
Don't forget to wash your feet beforehand. There are a lot of locals at the Foot Spa (mainly elders), who watch all the steps of new visitors and scold them, if they get into the water without washing their feet. The foreigners I saw on that day all washed their feet (there are signs in English), and only some Koreans made the mistake and were yelled at  ( ̄ー ̄)

I had a great time there. I visited the Foot Spa after walking around all day, and it totally refreshed my feet. I stayed in the hot water for about 20 minutes and chatted with an Halmoni (Korean grandmother), who had lived in Canada for several years. Her English was very good ^-^

You can access the Foot Spa from the Yuseong Spa subway station exit 7. It only takes five to ten minutes to walk there. I marked it on Google Maps, so that you can easily find it. I had a bit of a hard time to get to know the exact location.
