A very famous sight of Busan is the Busan Tower. We didn't go all the way up, but there was another Lovers' Sanctuary, where couples could put on locks with their names on it. As you can see on the picture, they even use mobile phone cases and bicycle locks.
Under the tower is a souvenir shop. But we didn't find anything interesting.
We also went to Busan's famous two beaches:
Haeundae Beach and
Gwangalli Beach
Along the Haeundae Beach you can find a lot of expensive looking hotels. We went there on the day of the Dalmaji Spa Festival, which we didn't know was taking place. On this day Koreans celebrate the Jeongwol Daeboreum. This means that they celebrate the first full moon of the lunar Korean calender. A lot of people flew traditional looking kites. They showed a traditional dance somewhere, but we didn't see it. The highlight of the festival was the Daljip burning. It's a large straw bonfire. People can burn things they want to forget or bad things of the last year. A lot of old people were elbowed their way through the crowd of waiting people, so that they could give their plastic bags filled with unwanted stuff tho the security men standing guard. They then threw it inside and on the straw hill. You can imagine, that plastic and straw burns really well. So they lit the whole thing and people prayed for good health and good fortune in the coming year. We watched for a few minutes, but soon moved to the nearby Starbucks' branch to observe everything from the distance. The fire was scattering smut and a unhealthy looking gas cloud.
Then we moved on to Gwangalli Beach, which is said to have a nice night view, because of the bridge lit with ten thousands of LEDs. There we also found people standing around a burning mound. There was a live band at the beach so we stayed a bit longer. It was a great atmosphere.
